Golden Spike National Historic Site
May 10, 1869, two railroad companies, Union Pacific and Central Pacific, joined 1,776 miles of rail at Promontory Summit, Utah Territory. This event sparked unforetold consequences still reflected in our great nation today. Golden Spike National Historic Site commemorates this incredible accomplishment of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad.
ATK Launch Systems Group
ATK Launch Systems Groups Displays (previously know as Thiokol) a variety of Solid Rocket Motors that there company has produced over the past 30 years. The Rocket Display is located at the entrance to the administration building complex. The display includes a full size Space Shuttle Booster like the ones used to launch the space shuttle into orbit.
Spiral Jetty
Robert Smithson's monumental earthwork Spiral Jetty (1970) is located on the Great Salt Lake in Utah. Using black basalt rocks and earth from the site, the artist created a coil 1500 feet long and 15 feet wide that stretches out counterclockwise into the translucent red water. Spiral Jetty was acquired by Dia Art Foundation as a gift from the Estate of the artist in 1999.
